NIOBIUM (0) ARYLS

Bis(benzene)niobium Nb(C6H6)2

Bis(benzene)niobium Nb(h6-C6H6)2 is deep red paramagnetic solid, decomposing at 90 °C.

 Synthesis:

Bis(benzene)niobium Nb(C6H6)2 is obtained by reaction of metallic niobium and benzene:

Nb + 2 C6H6 → Nb(h6-C6H6)2

Nb(C6H6)2 for Nb metal by CVD

Nb(h6-C6H6)2 was reported to be tested  for the growth of Nb films by MOCVD

Bis(toluene)niobium Nb(toluene)2

Bis(toluene)niobium was reported to be useful as single-source precursor for MOCVD of NbC  thin films.[i], [ii]
