Mn(TeCH2Ph) (CO)3 (PEt3)2

Manganese alkyltelluride–carbonyl complex Mn(TeCH2Ph)(CO)3(PEt3)2 was synthesized and characterized. Reaction between Mn(CH2Ph)(CO)5 and Te(PEt3) resulted in Te insertion  producing Mn(TeCH2Ph)(CO)3(PEt3)2 complex (via intermediate Mn(CH2Ph)(CO)3(PEt3)2 complex forming by CO substitution). The crystal structure of the complex Mn(TeCH2Ph)(CO)3(PEt3)2 was determined [[i]]. The manganese geometry is slightly distorted octahedral with a trans-arrangement of the phosphine groups and a meridional placement of the carbonyls.

    Pyrolysis of Mn(TeCH2Ph)(CO)3(PEt3)2 at 300°C in a hydrogen stream produced a film of MnTe, showing the applicability of this complex for MOCVD applications.[[ii]]

[Mn(μ-TeMe) (CO)4]2, [Mn(μ-TeEt) (CO)4]2

 

     Manganese alkyltelluride–carbonyl complexes [Mn(μ-TeR)(CO)4]2 (R = Me, Et) were synthesized and characterized. Treatment of Mn(CO)5Br with LiTeR yielded the dimeric products [Mn(CO)4(μ-TeR)]2 (R = Me, Et). Two conformations have been detected by multinuclear NMR spectroscopy, variable temperature 1H NMR spectroscopy showed that the conformers interconverted for R = Me. The mass spectra of [Mn(μ-TeR) (CO)4]2 (R = Me, Et) showed gas phase fragmentation to MnxTey species.

 

     Pyrolysis of complexes with R = Me, Et in a H2 atmosphere produced a film containing MnTe, demonstrating the applicability of this complex as MOCVD precursor. [[i]]
