TIN ALKYLS-HALIDES

Synthesis:

Tin dialkyls-dihalides R2SnX2 and tin trialkyls-halides R3SnX can be synthesized by partial metathesis of tin tetraalkyls with halogens or halogen halides:

SnR4 + 2 X2 →R2SnX2 + 2 RX

SnR4 + HX → R3SnX + RX

Tin dialkyls-dihalides R2SnX2 and tin trialkyls-halides R3SnX are volatile and are potentially applicable as precursors for the MOCVD or ALD of tin-contaning layers.

Dimethyltin dichloride SnMe2Cl2

Dimethyltin dichloride SnMe2Cl2 has been applied as a precursor for the growth of low-emissivity SnO2 coatings on the large area commercial glass substrates by CVD [4]
