Chromium cyclopentadienyl-tris(carbonyl) hydride (η5-C5H5)Cr(CO)3H has been sysnthsized by the following method:
Cr(CO)6 + Na(C5H5) → [(η5-C5H5)Cr(CO)3]-Na+
[(η5-C5H5)Cr(CO)3]- + H+ → (η5-C5H5)Cr(CO)3H
(η5-C5H5)Cr(CO)3H has been applied as low-temperature CVD precursor (300-473°C) for the deposition of Cr3C2 films. Rutherford et al. have grown mirror-bright extremely smooth films of hromium carbide by low-pressure CVD. Amorphous films grown at 330°C, were. much harder and had higherr resistivity than more crystalline. films grown at higher temperatures. [958]
